NFF officially unveiled Éric Sékou Chelle as the 37th head coach of the Super Eagles at the MKO Abiola National Stadium in Abuja today. Chelle, a seasoned tactician with a proven track record, was officially appointed by the NFF Executive Committee last week.
The appointment of Chelle, who recently guided Mali to the brink of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations semi-finals, marks a new chapter for the Super Eagles. The NFF President, Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau, expressed confidence in Chelle’s ability to lead the team to success in the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
Gusau said.
“We believe he embodies the qualities needed to lead the Super Eagles to success in their remaining six matches of the World Cup qualifying campaign,”

The NFF has called on Nigerians to support for the new coach.
“We call on Nigerians to rally behind him as he begins this challenging but promising journey,”
Gusau added.
The 47-year-old Franco-Malian brings a wealth of experience to the role. He will be assisted by a yet-to-be-announced coaching staff. The Super Eagles’ journey under Chelle’s guidance will commence with crucial World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda (away) and Zimbabwe (home) in March.
The NFF has pledged its full support to the new coach, aiming to create an environment that fosters excellence and enables the team to reach its full potential.
